Pumpkin Face

One of the many things I love about Dallas is how creative he is. However, I didn't realize that this extended to pumpkin carving as well. We went up to Ogden to spend the evening with Dallas's brother Jordan and his wife. We went to a pumpkin patch and picked the perfect pumpkins for carving. When Dallas told me he planned to carve my face into a pumpkin I was a bit nervous. Coming from a family where the best pumpkins on our porch have simple triangle eyes and jagged mouths, you can see why I was skeptical.

I was pleasantly surprised.

He took a picture and then printed it out in black and white and high contrast. Then he used the picture as a template and poked through the picture to transfer the template onto the pumpkin. At this point, I got too busy carving my own pumpkin to see the transformation from pumpkin to masterpiece.

Look at that concentration

Here is the picture he used as a template and then the finished product all lit up. I think it looks exactly like me.

This my pumpkin. It is the most elaborate pumpkin I have ever carved. Ever. I was really proud of myself.

OUR House: Part II

Our house is old. Old as in, I'm fairly certain electricity didn't exist when it was built. With that age comes some "great" quirks. We love the all of the unique characteristics of our house, but some of those that have become favorites are:

1.  No electrical outlets in the bathroom
2.  No fan in the bathroom
3.  Two electrical outlets 3 inches away from each other in the living room (see Exhibit A)

Exhibit A

4.  A water heater that doesn't make it through the process of washing my hair without going cold

I may have used the term "favorite" loosely.

Buuuuut I have a great husband who has done the following things to make these quirks more bearable:

1. He found an adapter that screws into the light socket and has a plug, and then continued to staple a 7 foot extension cord to the wall so I could reach the plug (see Exhibit B)

Exhibit B

2. He bought matches. Almost works as well.
3.  ...Ok, this one doesn't actually bother me that much so nothing's been done about it.
4. He lets me shower first. Big brownie points there.

OUR House: Part I

Currently Dallas and I are renting a duplex. Here are the top 5 reasons we love it:

1. Our sweet land lady lives right next door and brings us fresh tomatoes every so often.
2. We have the CUTEST little family as neighbors; all their little kids are gingers and super friendly.
3. We have a backyard. And a front yard.
4. All the work that would normally go with #3 is done by our land lady
5. We live just down the street from Dallas's cousins, who let us eat their food when I'm too tired from clinical to make our own dinner who make really good food

Plus it's close enough that we can walk to campus, has a front porch, brand new appliances, a washer and dryer, and was repainted just before we moved in. AND we are getting a brand new toilet RIGHT NOW! Seriously, the maintenance man is installing the toilet as I sit here.

We love our little house, if you didn't notice from the Top 5 which became a Top 10. It's fine.
